Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, not just an ordinary library, stands as a cultural hub. This place took about 6 years to complete and is now open to the public. Previously, the library has already been opened by Sheikh Bin Rashid who is the king of Dubai. The library is shaped like a book stand and it comprises 9 libraries, each with its own themes. The library also has an outdoor and indoor amphitheatre, a gift shop, a café with two stories, a conference room, and a museum. Additionally, it has at least a million titles both physical and digital copies covering over 30 languages.

A Brief Overview Of The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

There is no entry fee, but people have to pay for a membership if they want to borrow a book. The library stays open from Monday all the way till Saturday from 9 in the morning to 11 in the night. Sunday is an official holiday. Children of 5 years and above are allowed to access the library. The library also has an app allowing you to book your slots online. The library offers a parking space for no cost. A pathway that is completely shaded and leads to the Al Jaddaf metro point.

History

Established in 1896, it served as the residence of the former ruler of Dubai, Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum. His descendants were also born and continued to stay here for quite some time in the 1960s and 1970s. The building was a designated “safe house” for the ruling family of Dubai.
