Lawrie Shabibi – Art Gallery

Hamra Abbas’ magnificent marble inlay works adorn the walls of the Lawrie Shabibi Art Gallery in Dubai. It features the series of large scale works titled ‘Mountain 6’. Hamra Abbas, born in Pakistan in the year 1976 has been experimenting with the artwork of marble inlay referred to as Pietra Dura of late. The intricate artwork involves the fitting of colored stones creating breathtakingly beautiful images.

About Lawrie Shabibi

Hamra’s works displayed at the Lawrie Shabibi Art Gallery mark a landmark as the artist has presented this artwork in the mainstream away from its traditional roots creating aesthetics of a whole new kind. The works on display at the gallery are depictions of paradise and perfection in the form of landscapes and images. The Mughal style of architecture comes alive in her creations in the use of garden motifs.

The regular programs and exhibitions at the gallery and the catalogues published by it have made Lawrence Shabibi a prominent name in developing the Middle East’s contemporary art scene.

Ticket Price

There are no tickets for entering the Lawrie Shabibi Art Gallery either for foreigners or locals.

How to Reach Lawrie Shabibi

The gallery is located on the Alserkal Avenue. It takes around 25 minutes to cover the distance of 22.5 kilometres from the Dubai International Airport. You’ll have to take the Sheikh Zayed Road E11 you can rent a car to reach the location. After crossing the Airport Road and then the Al Khail Road, turn right and drive into the 17th Street.
